About Ramona Martinez
Ramona Martinez got her start in radio as an intern at NPR at the Washington Desk. After graduating from the University of Chicago, Ramona spent time freelance producing for Chicago Tonight, a PBS news magazine television program. She moved back to the East Coast and got a job at NPR’s Newscast unit, where she works behind-the-scenes editing and producing. She discovered bluegrass in college when she was recruited to put her classical bass skills to (better) use, and has been in love ever since. Her love of country music quickly followed.
When she’s not spinning platters on the air, Ramona plays bass in a jazz combo, plays fife as a Civil War reenactor, and enjoys collecting vintage clothing.
