The 8th Annual Bell Buckle Music Cruise set sail from from Miami, FL on January 30. This 8 day voyage through the Caribbean is hosted by Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike (featuring Becky Buller). Becky provided us with a blog and photos during the voyage, chronicling her experience on the trip.
The International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass convention and awards show recently concluded on October 3rd. For 7 days, a half dozen Bluegrass Country staff members and I worked around the clock on site in Nashville to bring you daily live broadcasts, blog posts, photos, and up-to-the-minute twitter coverage of the awards show.
For those of you who may have missed it, here’s a recap of our 2010 IBMA coverage… Read More
Bob Webster here, host of Stained Glass Bluegrass on Bluegrass Country, to wrap-up the week of broadcasting at the IBMA’s World of Bluegrass.
Last evening observed the annual awards ceremony at the Ryman Auditorium (pictured left, photo by Donnie Beauchamp) and the results are available right here. We were fortunate to have several of these winners on our live broadcast this week, including Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Larry Stephenson, and Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper. Look for future re-airings of these broadcasts on Bluegrass Country in the weeks ahead.
Out on the Town!
Wednesday, September 29
Greetings from Echo!!! Wednesday at IBMA’s World of Bluegrass 2010 kicked off to a sunny start! After a few wonderfully hectic days of business conference seminars, live interviews on Bluegrass Country, late night showcases, and late night pickin’ parties, I decided to tear myself away from the action for a few hours and hit the streets of Nashville today!
Around noon, our engineer, Erin Stamper, and I headed to West Nashville for a quick bite to eat at McDougal’s – chicken fingers with ‘Tear Jerker’ hot sauce.
Old Hat But Still Fun!

Hi. Lee Michael Demsey here, late morning (eastern time) host, Monday thru Saturday. As you might expect, I’m having a blast in Nashville, attending the IBMA World of Bluegrass Convention. I’d guess I’ve attended the event about twenty times, so it’s sort of old hat to me, but still fun.
Off to a Good Start!

Found Jerad in our make-shift studio early this morning. He said he was preparing for his first live interviews — a little nervous I think. I was, too. Would the live broadcast go off as planned and how would the seminar I had to conduct (How to Be a Better Broadcaster) go? Bill Knowlton, my friend and fellow broadcaster, and I met for coffee and a sweet roll. He chose a coffee shop near the Ryman so we could enjoy the view. Excellent choice, Bill.

We have been preparing for our IBMA broadcast for weeks. No, for months. We’ve had lots of planning meetings and made countless phone calls to artists nailing down the talent. It went pretty smoothly this year but sometimes getting artists to commit to a schedule in stone months before an event is like nailing jelly to a tree. Click to see schedule.
“We started our Reunion out with a set from Dale Ann Bradley, Kim Fox and Steve Gulley… their cover of the U2 song, “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” got the crowd going. Although as Kim pointed out, technically Dale Ann is singing “ferr”.” ~jenhitt
