WAMU’s Bluegrass Country will be broadcasting live from Nashville September 26-30. Click here for a complete schedule of our live programming.
We have been preparing for our 2011 IBMA live broadcast for weeks. No, for months. We’ve had lots of planning meetings and made countless phone calls to artists nailing down the talent. This is our fifth year of attending IBMA so know we know the drill with a few new tweaks each year. The first difference is we have changed our remote studio location. We have moved out of the 4th floor Renaissance Hotel room that has served us so well. This year, we will be located in Room 107 on the Lower Level of the Nashville Convention Center. That’s one of the seminar rooms between the Trade Show and the Showcase Ballroom. At this new location we have room for a small studio audience; we hope you will stop in and catch a set from some of the great talent we have lined up. Even if you’re not in Nashville, you can still join us simply by tuning in (Click here for our schedule).
IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) is a bluegrass trade association of professional musicians and songwriters, promoters, media members, luthiers, record companies, artist managers, etc., and World of Bluegrass is the annual convention. I’ve heard it described as a family reunion. If it is, it’s a working reunion. We attend seminars and hold discussions so we can better our portion of the industry. Oh yes, we do have fun seeing old friends, meeting new ones and hearing (and playing) lots of music. And we also salute and celebrate careers and accomplishments of the people working in bluegrass. Be sure to keep up-to-date by checking our website, following us on Twitter and on Facebook.
