*American Routes – Second Lines and Black Pots: American Routes Live in Louisiana
Come stir the pot with American Routes as we bring you a sampling of great live music from our home state: Louisiana. First we’ll stop by the soon to be legendary BlackPot Festival in Lafayette for some new flavors of Cajun and Creole tunes, as well as some old favorites by special guests. Then we’ll walk through the streets of New Orleans with the Prince of Wales Social Aid and Pleasure Club during their annual second line parade.
Bluegrass Breakdown – Recent Reissues, Collections And Such
We’ll be taking a look at music that has been given a second, or sometimes third or fourth life, in the form of a reissued project, big boxed set or thoughtful collection. New items of such ilk from High Country, Blue Highway, the New Lost City Ramblers, John Hartford, Mac Wiseman and Del McCoury will be spotlighted.
Bluegrass Master Class – Banks of the Ohio #83
This week we feature five lesser-known recordings by Charlie Waller, demonstrating his versatility over a nearly half-century career with the Country Gentlemen. We also visit Harlan County, playing eight tunes dealing with that legendary corner of Eastern Kentucky. And in the last half hour, don’t miss the oddest record Don Reno ever made — program host Fred Bartenstein thinks it may have been written by aliens. A production of the International Bluegrass Music Museum.

Bluegrass Signal – Winter Membership Campaign Special
This week on “Bluegrass Signal,” music from seven of the CDs offered as thank-you gifts during the Winter Membership Campaign, plus a few inspirational songs. If the music and programs on Bluegrass Country have made a difference to you, you can make a difference to the station. Thanks for your support!
*The Dick Spottswood Show
As many of us dig out from under record snowfalls, we’ll need to dig into our pocketbooks as the Obsolete Music Hour takes up its semi-annual collection to keep great music coming from us to you. Bluegrass Country thank you gifts include extraordinary Buzz Busby and Bill Harrell CD sets remastered from their legendary 1950s Starday sessions—and the Bill Harrell set adds some great 1967 duets with Don Reno. Fundraisers are what Bluegrass Country does to underwrite the music you love.
Love us back, OK? Please be there for all of us with your support!
And have a look at these two great thank you gifts I’ll offer in acknowledgment of your support for Obsolete Music and Bluegrass Country:
