As you know, a public search for a new group or individual willing and able to take over WAMU’s Bluegrass Country operations was launched in July.
One group, The Bluegrass Country Foundation, submitted a proposal by the October 17 deadline. A meeting was held on November 7 with the Foundation’s Board of Directors to discuss their proposal in detail.
UPDATE (4pm December 8, 2016) WAMU Management and members of the Bluegrass Country Foundation Board of Directors have been working diligently on ways to make the transfer of programming work. Initially, the deadline was January 1, 2017. Once we started working on the engineering, programming and legal details, we quickly realized it would be almost impossible to meet that January 1 deadline.
This afternoon, Jeff Ludin of the Bluegrass Country Foundation and members of WAMU Management held a teleconference and agreed to set a new deadline of Monday, February 6, 2017 so all the necessary details can be ironed out. Hopefully, we can then realize the transfer of programming. Until then, programming on WAMU’s Bluegrass Country will continue. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Keep your fingers crossed as we continue to work on your behalf. — Katy Daley, Program Director and Morning Host, WAMU’s Bluegrass Country

You may notice a change in our station identification announcements. The two translator stations – one in Hagerstown, Maryland and the other in Frederick, Maryland, broadcasting WAMU’s Bluegrass Country on 93.5FM — have been sold to the Manning Family. The Mannings operate several community-minded stations in that area. The 93.5/93.3 frequencies will carry broadcasts that originate from the Frederick-Hagerstown communities.
As of November 2016 the Bluegrass Country signal will no longer be carried on 93.5FM. WAMU’s Bluegrass Country will continue to be carried on 105.5FM and 88-5 WAMU HD Channel 2 in Washington, DC and streamed worldwide on bluegrasscountry.org
