Another MerleFest coming to a close on this cool Sunday. 24 years and still going strong, I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next year for the 25th anniversary.
Got here a little late, so things got started for us Sunday with the Emmit-Nershi Band. This was followed up with a rockin’ show from the Doobie Brothers. Saturday was absolutely beautiful. Not a cloud in the sky all day. We took our chairs and camped out over at the hill stage all afternoon. Again getting things started with Drew Emmit and Bill Nershi. Jim Lauderdale played later, and the highlight for me was the 4th annual album hour with The Waybacks. This years album was “Eat a Peach” from the Allman Brothers, and they even snuck in “Whipping Post” even though it’s not on the album (James Nash says he thought it should be, probably just an excuse to play it).
Unfortunately we didn’t get to see Sam Bush, who always puts on a great show, as we had to go back to camp to eat dinner and get ready for the Midnight Jam. Hosted by the wonderful Casey Driessen, the Jam included members of the Stringdusters, Emmit-Nershi band, Snyder Family Band, and many more!
Today we saw the return of the Stringdusters back to the Watson Stage. Last time I saw them there Andy Hall (dobro player) proposed to his now wife. He was sure to inform us that they are still happily married and things are going great! Everyone’s excited about Robert Plant who is headlining tonight. Looking forward to that, should be a great show!
Well that’s all we have for you today. Bluegrass Country volunteer was here taking great pictures all weekend. We had some technical difficulties getting them up on the blog from here, but we should be posting those very shortly so make sure to check back soon!
