It’s the beginning of day two here at Pickin’ in the Panhandle: The West Virginia State BBQ & Bluegrass Festival.
Echo and I had an amazing time last night. Katy Daley was the emcee for the main stage yesterday and helped to treat crowds to sets from Mark Silver & the Stonethrowers, Lonesome Highway, Jett’s Creek, Junior Sisk & Ramblers Choice, The Dixie-Bee Liners, Cadillac Sky and of course, The Charlie Daniels Band.
This is the festival’s 3rd year and in day one they already surpassed attendance from last year’s festival.
It was great to hear the new mandolin player, Jason Tomlin with Junior Sisk. As well as Casey Henry & Robin Davis with the Bee-Liners. Good personnel choices in our opinions.
Cadillac Sky was the only band to have played all three festivals and the crowd knew what to expect – crazy pickin’ and great dancin’! C-sky got them warmed up and Charlie Daniels turned it into a party with his frenzied fiddle work, some tunes with Latin rhythms and, of course, Devil Went Down to Georgia.
