September 2004: Jeff Barbra & Sarah Pirkle
Jeff Barbra and Sarah Pirkle have been married (to each other!) for 7 years, and make their home in Walland, TN in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains national park. Their acoustic music is seasoned with the distinctive flavors of bluegrass, old time, classic country, and modern folk. Solid original compositions and soaring harmony vocals make up the heart and soul of this bluegrass duo that features Jeff on the guitar and Sarah on the fiddle.
A love of bluegrass has been a part of both Sarah and Jeff’s lives from childhood. Both have created music since they were children. Recently, Sarah discovered a long lost recording of her at age 5, where she made up a song on the spot!
Jeff believes he started his songwriting journey began as an early teen when he was inspired by the songs of classics James Taylor and Merle Haggard. Writing was a hobby that Jeff and Sarah had in common and explored together when they began dating. A lot of those first dates were gigs!
The new album Barb Hollow Sessions was recorded in Jeff & Sarah’s home in the Great Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee. Special guests on the album include John Pennell, Darrell Webb, and Eric Lewis. The album features the best of both Jeff and Sarah’s dulcet voices that are highlighted by guitar harmonies.
