Banks of the Ohio
About Banks of the Ohio
Banks of the Ohio: Music From the Homeplace of Bluegrass is a three-hour weekly show produced for the International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, KY.
From 2002-2008, Fred Bartenstein was the host and producer of Banks of the Ohio. Currently Fred continues his involvement with the Museum in other capacities. Rebroadcasts of Fred’s version of the show can be heard occasionally on Bluegrass Master Class.
On November 29, 2008, George McKnight began his tenure as the new host of Banks of the Ohio. Currently, George hosts Uptown Bluegrass and Banks of the Ohio, which are one and the same. So from May 23, 2009 onward WAMU’s Bluegrass Country will be referring to George’s show as Uptown Bluegrass.
