For some reason, there are several recent songs about the Alaska gold rush of the late 19th century, and we give them a spin on the show. Than, “Let’s hear it for the working man!” That is the title of our Gem of Bluegrass, and our thematic direction. Because we want to hold onto summer, we present an installment of summer fluff: Bluegrass versions of pop hits. Some say this kind of song is for summer because we don’t have to think very hard to enjoy it, but if you give these songs a chance, you will find some deep and compelling bluegrass music in these renditions.
