Nostalgia is big in bluegrass. The show opens with two nostalgia songs. In the first by the Bankesters, the singer expresses that she longs to be nostalgic about what is going on right now. The second is a happy-sounding sad song as Charlie Waller recounts an old relationship that did not go the right way. Then, we play recent additions to the list of Bob Dylan songs done by bluegrass or old-time groups. Our Gem of Bluegrass accounts for the popularity among singers of the old Belle Reed song, “I’ve Endured.” In the second half of the show, we talk to Bruce Molsky who holds fiddle playing workshops around the country, about some of his prize students.
