January is behind us but we still have snow and perhaps more on the way. To warm our hearts and minds this week we’ll have a few more inspirational songs during this season as we prepare for the winter membership campaign next Sunday. We’ll sing the old hymns at the start of the third hour with a new addition to our list performed by the Isaacs – “I Will Praise” him from 1898.
This week, Hubie plays a set of orphan songs, the history of "Johnny Bucker," the old-time origin of Mac Wiseman's "When the Snowflakes Fall (Again)," and a longer set of powerful old-time singing by a variety of voices. And there are a variety of instrumental tunes as well.

Some neglected mid-fifties Carter Stanley classics, a couple of 1840s minstrelsy relics, a few World War I blues, two forerunners of Lester & Earl's "Down the Road," and cameo appearances by Bessie Smith, Cowboy Copas, the Memphis Jug Band, Bob Wills, Tex Logan, Lefty Frizzell, and the Stonemans. In a few months the Spottswood show will complete 25 years on WAMU and BlueGrassCountry. Time passes, and the music just gets more Obsolete.
