First three hours were live at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the National Mall in Washington, DC; Frank Hennessey hosted Celtic Heartbeat on BBC Wales with guests Mary Cliff, Lee Michael Demsey and Hubie King of WAMU/BluegrassCountry, simulcast on both our stations. Live performers from the Welsh program, Latino program and “Giving Voice” (African American) program were interspersed with pre-produced Festival features and representative CDs and in-studio recordings by the local hosts.
