Bill Monroe’s Mandolin Sings Again

Bill Monroe’s Mandolin Sings Again

Bill Monroe’s Lloyd Loar Gibson mandolin rests in a glass case in the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville.

But the sound lives on.  And recently this cornerstone of bluegrass music sang again, in the hands of Ricky Skaggs during the ceremony inducting him into the Hall.  An arm injury limited his playing to simple strokes rather than his usual fireworks, but the mandolin showed that it’s lost none of its power and tone.  Click the photo on the right to play the video.  Enjoy.
