Calling all songwriters!  Here’s another chance to get your original song recognized – the Common Ground on the Hill Acoustic Songwriting Contest.

This contest is open to any original song, with lyrics, in the bluegrass, old-time. Americana or folk genres.  Entries must be under 5 minutes long, submitted in an MP3 file and accompanied by acoustic instruments (OK, electric bass is allowed).  Winners will be selected by a three-judge panel based on the song, not the performance.

Three prizes will be awarded – $300, $150 and $75.  The top prize winner also gets free tuition to any Common Ground on the Hill Traditions Week music class in 2019 or 2020, as well as the opportunity to perform the song in concert.

All the rules and entry procedures can be found here.   The deadline for entries is May 15, 2019.  Proceeds from the contest will go to the Common Ground on the Hill scholarship fund.
