Chris Teskey

Chris is pleased to return to Bluegrass Country after a two year hiatus.

Chris joined WAMU’s Bluegrass Country in 2011 as its Senior Music Producer, leaving WPKN in Bridgeport, CT after 32 years on the air as a bluegrass music programmer there. Chris started working in radio in 1974 at WSHU, an NPR affiliate in Fairfield, CT, and joined WPKN and WRKI in 1978, working in non-commercial and commercial radio simultaneously, programming bluegrass at WPKN and rock and pop at WRKI.

While continuing to program bluegrass music at WPKN, Chris joined Green Linnet Records in 1986, and worked in various roles on 350 Celtic and World Music releases. In 2005 Chris started Mad River Records and released 26 recordings under that label.

Chris served the listener-supported WPKN as its program director, music director, and as an elected member of the board of directors of WPKN, Inc.

“Returning to Bluegrass Country is a dream come true for me. It is my musical home, and it feels like I never left,” Chris said in an interview recently.

In addition to his Program Director duties, Chris hosts the morning program from 7 – 10am Monday through Friday on Bluegrass Country.
