Tuesday 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
If you like down-home, traditional bluegrass music, you’ll find it at Bluegrass by the Bay. Host Jay Armsworthy plays it straight. Classic or contemporary, it’s the hard-driving, soulful traditional sound that you’ll hear on this weekly two-hour show.
Jay started his radio career in 1993 playing bluegrass on a station in Lexington Park, Maryland, nestled off the coast of the Chesapeake Bay. Today he produces Bluegrass on the Bay from his home in California, Maryland, and it’s broadcast through Bluegrass Country and several other stations.
In addition to radio. Jay plays guitar and sings with his band, Jay Armsworthy & Eastern Tradition. He’s been performing since he was ten, with other regional bands in Maryland as well as David Davis & the Warrior River Boys and the Paul Adkins Band. To date, Jay has four CD’s recorded with his latest being an all gospel release on Tom T. & Dixie Hall’s Blue Circle label titled “I Couldn’t Make It Without Him”.
He also promotes and produces his own bluegrass concerts as well as an annual fundraiser for the Hospice of St. Mary’s County, Maryland and the Hollywood, Maryland Volunteer Rescue Squad. Most recently, Jay has taken over the annual L’il Margaret’s Bluegrass Music Festival in Leonardtown, Maryland.
