
Tune up the fiddle, rosin up the bow, and enter your band in the DC Bluegrass Union’s annual Mid-Atlantic Bluegrass Band Contest for 2020. The band contest kicks off the DC Bluegrass Festival, March 28 in Falls Church, VA..
Now in its ninth year, the contest offers a showcase for local and regional bands, and awards the following money prizes and stage time to the top three bands. First prize is $800, plus a 30-minute set to start the festival, and a show date on the Lucketts Bluegrass Series at the historic Old Schoolhouse in Lucketts, VA. Second prize is $500 and third prize is $300.
The contest begins at 12 noon. Each band will get ten minutes on stage to perform two songs – one vocal and one instrumental. Winners will be selected by a three-judge panel.
