SPBGMA, the Society for Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America, is an organization dedicated to maintaining the traditional spirit and art form of bluegrass music.  At its annual convention in Nashville in January, SPBGMA presented its 2023 awards:

  • Entertainer of the Year – Kody Norris
  • Bluegrass Band (Overall) of the Year – The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys
  • Gospel Group of the Year – Balsam Range
  • Vocal Group of the Year – Balsam Range
  • Instrumental Group of the Year – Kody Norris Show
  • Song of the Year – My My My – Seth Mulder and Midnight Run
  • Bluegrass Album of the Year – Something You Didn’t Count On: Jaelee Roberts
  • Bluegrass Songwriter of the Year  – Daryl Mosley
  • Male Vocalist of the Year  – Russell Moore
  • Female Vocalist of the Year – Jaelee Roberts
  • Bass Fiddle Performer of the Year – Edgar Loudermilk
  • Dobro Performer of the Year – Justin Moses
  • Guitar Performer of the Year – Kody Norris
  • Mandolin Performer of the Year – Alan Bibey
  • Banjo Performer of the Year – Joe Mullins
  • Fiddle Performer of the Year – Mary Rachel Nalley-Norris
  • Bluegrass Promoter of the Year – Cody Johnson
  • Bluegrass Radio Station of the Year – Sirius XM 62
  • Bluegrass DJ of the Year – Kyle Cantrell-Sirius XM

The annual convention also features a band contest.  Top prize winners in 2023 were:

  • 1st – The Waddington Brothers (North Dakota)
  • 2nd – Charla Freeland Band (Missouri)
  • 3rd – Dalton Harper and Ramblin’ Heart (Missouri)
